At the CIB Lab, we are dedicated to advancing the frontier of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and deploying it in critical impact sectors such as medicine, biology, agronomy, robotics, industrial processes, and energy. Our mission is to design and implement advanced machine learning techniques and metaheuristic methods to address complex real-world problems, promoting innovative and sustainable solutions.
We are an interdisciplinary team where data science, engineering, computational biology, and robotics converge. Our primary focus is the development of algorithms and computational tools that enable the automation and enhancement of monitoring, quantification, modeling, and simulation of complex systems.
Who Are We Looking For?
We seek curious, creative minds with strong foundations, motivated to turn theory into tangible solutions. We value both technical excellence and a passion for applied impact.
- Prospective PhD/MSc Students: With backgrounds in computer science, engineering, bioinformatics, physics, or applied mathematics. We look for experience or a strong interest in areas such as machine learning (deep, reinforcement), computer vision, optimization (metaheuristics), computational modeling, or intelligent robotics.
- Postdoctoral Researchers: With a demonstrated research track record and quality publications, capable of leading pioneering projects at the intersection of AI and one of our application sectors.
- Undergraduate Students: With high academic performance and motivation to engage in applied research projects (scientific initiation).
- Students Seeking Professional Placements: We offer structured Professional Practices (Internships/Placements) for advanced undergraduate and master's students.
- Students Fulfilling Social Service Requirements: We design and host meaningful Social Service projects.
- Collaborators and Visitors: Academics or industry professionals interested in joint projects.
What We Offer
- Research with Direct Impact: You will work on real-world problems with data and challenges from partners.
- Comprehensive Training: Personalized mentorship, GPUs, robotic platforms, and datasets.
- Interdisciplinary Environment: Seminars, workshops, and collaborative discussions.
- Sustainable Career Development: Preparation for academia, industry, or entrepreneurship.
